Location: Essex
Join Essex County Council's dedicated team as a Traffic Safety Support Officer and play a vital role in enhancing community safety.
Your primary responsibility will be to assist schools during peak hours, ensuring the safe passage of pedestrians, particularly children, at designated crossing points.
We seek a dependable and friendly individual who enjoys interacting with the public and can commit to a schedule of approximately 7.5 hours per week. This role requires availability during the academic year, specifically for 45 minutes in the morning and 45 minutes in the afternoon, tailored to site needs. Uniform, equipment, and training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities:
- Consider the needs of individuals with disabilities, particularly those with mobility challenges using the crossing.
- Maintain consistent communication with local schools attended by children utilizing the crossing.
- Regularly evaluate risks associated with the crossing site to identify and report any issues to a supervisor.
- Assist in compiling reports on incidents and accidents occurring at the crossing location.
- Ensure all provided uniform and equipment are kept in excellent condition and request replacements as necessary.
- Signal clearly to drivers to halt traffic and ensure it remains stopped until the crossing is clear of pedestrians.
