Job Summary:

We are seeking a punctual and reliable individual to join our School Crossing Patrol Team as a Mobile School Crossing Patrol Officer. As a Community Safety Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety of children and pedestrians at designated crossing points.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To have regard for the needs of people with disabilities, especially mobility impaired people wishing to use the crossing point.
  • Regularly assess the risks associated with operating at the crossing site in order to identify any problems. Report problems and defects to supervisor.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports on accidents and failure to stop incidents and other incidents occurring at the crossing site.
  • Ensure that all uniform and equipment provided is maintained in good condition and replacements requested when needed.
  • Give clear signals to drivers when stopping traffic and ensuring that the traffic remains at rest until the road at the crossing point is clear of pedestrians.

Requirements:

  • Access to your own vehicle and business insurance is a must, as you will be required to travel to and from crossing sites, as required.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing situations.

What We Offer:

  • A competitive hourly rate of £12.10.
  • A 5-hour per week retainer paid, plus duty hours worked; with a holiday pay element included.
  • Mileage and travel time paid in accordance with ECC's Travel and Subsistence policy.
