Job Overview

PAVING THE WAY FOR SUCCESS.

Our teams are dedicated to assisting individuals and organizations in achieving their objectives with integrity.

The Financial Modelling division within our Deals & Business Consulting practice is a dynamic and rapidly expanding team. We provide financial modelling expertise to clients across a broad spectrum of Advisory services, ranging from corporate finance transactions to operational transformations and restructuring efforts. We collaborate with the firm's extensive modelling network, exchanging insights and best practices with fellow modelling specialists.

Our work involves constructing, evaluating, and modifying models across various sectors and Advisory roles. Financial models are critical to nearly all business decisions and corporate transactions. We deliver the analytical tools necessary for our clients to comprehend the ramifications of their choices prior to implementation. The majority of our modelling is conducted in Microsoft Excel, complemented by limited use of other programming languages. Our focus is on creating tools that are user-friendly, adaptable, and resilient to change.

We are open to discussing flexible working arrangements and are supportive of reduced hours and job-sharing options, enabling you to harmonize your professional and personal life.

Role Responsibilities

As an Assistant Manager/Manager in our team, your responsibilities will include:

  • Designing and developing financial models and tools for clients to facilitate forecasting and strategic planning, or aiding in their creation and enhancement.
  • Modifying models to conduct sensitivity and scenario analyses for transactions and restructuring initiatives.
  • Evaluating the modelling contributions of junior team members, ensuring technical precision and adherence to brand standards, while providing constructive feedback and guidance.
  • Interpreting model outcomes and engaging in meaningful discussions with clients and colleagues regarding their implications.
  • Reviewing financial models constructed by clients and their advisors, compiling initial assessments and insights.
  • Actively participating in model design discussions and preparing model specification documents.
  • Drafting engagement letters for review by senior team members.
  • Attending client meetings to build rapport and foster enduring relationships based on trust and quality service.
  • Contributing to reports being prepared by other Advisory teams (e.g., VDD, FDD, Corporate Finance, Restructuring).

Qualifications

To be considered for the Assistant Manager/Manager position, you should possess the following minimum qualifications:

  • Experience in a comparable Big 4 or similar modelling environment.
  • Currently at a managerial level or equivalent.
  • Proficient in Excel with a strong grasp of advanced techniques.
  • Comprehensive understanding of modelling best practices.
  • Highly numerate with excellent communication abilities.
  • Strong accounting knowledge and insight into cash and working capital cycles.
  • Degree educated or equivalent, preferably in a quantitative discipline.
  • ACA or CA qualified or equivalent.

While not mandatory, the following skills would be advantageous:

  • A logical approach to problem-solving with meticulous attention to detail.
  • A commitment to personal development and a desire to mentor and support colleagues.
  • Experience in infrastructure or fund modelling.
  • A commercially oriented mindset with the capability to deliver innovative solutions.

At Grant Thornton, our culture distinguishes us; we are recognized for fostering an inclusive environment where all our employees can thrive. We value the unique qualities that each individual brings, which enables us to perform at our best.

Our core values guide our daily actions and decisions, alongside our commitment to ethical practices. We seek individuals who resonate with our values and are driven by purpose, curiosity, and a candid yet kind approach.

In addition to a competitive salary and benefits package, you will also enjoy:

  • Customized development programs and access to coaching.
  • Flexible bank holidays, allowing you to celebrate significant days.
  • Comprehensive benefits including pension plans, life insurance, private medical coverage, additional holiday purchasing options, and health benefits.
  • Access to shopping discounts, gym memberships, and financial advisory services.

And much more. Explore our benefits section for additional details.

Work Environment

We promote a trust-based working culture, led by responsible individuals who prioritize the interests of our firm and clients. Our flexible working framework allows for adaptability in where, how, and when we work to achieve optimal results for our clients while maintaining a healthy work-life balance. Life encompasses more than just work; the activities you engage in and the relationships you cultivate outside of work are equally important. Therefore, we are pleased to consider flexible working arrangements for all roles. This is how it should be.

We are in search of individuals who can propel the business forward, contribute innovative ideas, and exceed expectations. People who aspire to uphold what is right for the firm, our clients, our colleagues, and themselves. This is how it should be.
