Your Responsibilities: In this role, you will focus on the development and enhancement of innovative process technologies aimed at extracting, refining, and purifying lithium from micaceous granites, along with the successful execution of bench-scale trials that provide scientific design data for the British Lithium Project. Key responsibilities include:
- Being an integral part of the Process Development team, performing laboratory bench-scale metallurgical and process chemistry tests at either in-house facilities or external laboratories.
- Ensuring the safe operation of laboratory equipment, including Atomic Adsorption Spectrometer and portable XRF machinery.
- Contributing to capital requests for sustaining and improvement projects, meticulously logging and recording trial and analytical data, and preparing technical reports on the outcomes of bench-scale trials.
- Possibly acting as the Person in Charge (PIC) of the Metallurgical Laboratory facility and its equipment, or a designated sub-area.
- Coordinating sample collection for analytical assays, which includes collecting, labeling, and shipping samples.
- Assisting in the review, development, and maintenance of QA/QC policies for sample collection, testing, and analysis, ensuring a proper chain of custody.
- Designing experimental programs to support process engineering design activities.

Your Qualifications: The ideal candidate will possess experience in mineral and chemical process technologies within a mining context.
- A degree in Chemistry or an Earth Science
- Experience in a process laboratory setting, with knowledge of inorganic chemical processes and lithium chemistries
- Familiarity with health & safety standards and COSHH regulations, ideally with a vocational health and safety qualification
- Working knowledge of process design for mineral and chemical processes.
