About This Role

As Head of Safeguarding, Public Protection, and Mental Capacity Act, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety, well-being, and rights of vulnerable individuals within our organization. You'll lead and manage comprehensive safeguarding strategies, overseeing the development, implementation, and evaluation of policies and procedures to ensure compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of safeguarding, public protection, and Mental Capacity Act (MCA) practices across the Trust. This includes fostering effective multi-agency liaison and providing comprehensive training on safeguarding children, adults, domestic abuse, Prevent, Multi Agency Public Protection (MAPPA), advocacy, anti-social behaviour, and mental capacity.
  • Provide expert guidance and support to clinical and managerial staff on their safeguarding, public protection, and MCA duties and responsibilities. This involves advising operational services, escalating concerns to and from other agencies, and providing effective feedback and support during safeguarding meetings and forums.
  • Collaborate with the Safeguarding Boards for Children and Adults, designated child and adult Trust's named doctors, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure a coordinated and effective approach to safeguarding.
  • Establish and maintain robust safeguarding systems within the organization, utilizing national and local guidelines to develop strategies that are appropriate for our Trust.
  • Lead on statutory safeguarding reviews, such as Serious Case Reviews, delegating tasks to team members where appropriate.
  • Oversee Trust incidents and serious incidents, including allegations against staff, volunteers, and students.
