Job Overview

West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking an experienced Sonographer to join our Radiology team. As an Advanced Clinical Practitioner, you will be responsible for performing a wide range of ultrasound examinations, including complex cases, and providing expert clinical guidance to junior staff.

Main Duties

The successful candidate will have a strong background in obstetrics, gynaecology, and general medical ultrasound, with experience in ultrasound-guided interventional procedures. You will be expected to work independently, producing high-quality interpretative reports and providing second opinions to junior staff. Additionally, you will have a significant role in teaching and supervising less experienced colleagues.

Person Specification

We are looking for a highly skilled Sonographer with a DMU or PgD in Ultrasound, and a strong track record of delivering high-quality patient care. Desirable criteria include holding or working towards an MSc, and having experience in advanced clinical studies. You will also need to have a detailed knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and complex knowledge of pathologies.
