Firearms Licensing Officer

Job Summary:
Adecco is seeking a highly skilled Firearms Licensing Officer to join our team at a leading law enforcement agency. As a Firearms Licensing Officer, you will play a critical role in ensuring public safety by monitoring and assessing risk, processing certificate holders, and initiating risk management processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitoring and Assessing Risk: Utilize your expertise to monitor and assess risk 24/7, 365 days a year, ensuring the safety of the community and the integrity of the firearms licensing process.
- Processing Certificate Holders: Process certificate holders of interest to the police, ensuring that all necessary procedures are followed and that the public is protected.
- Initiating Risk Management Processes: Identify and initiate risk management processes to mitigate potential threats to public safety.
- Investigating Potential Revocation/Surrender of Certificates: Conduct thorough investigations to determine whether certificates should be revoked or surrendered.
- Providing Assistance During Enquiries: Provide support and assistance during enquiries, ensuring that all necessary information is gathered and that the public is kept safe.
- Gathering Intelligence on Unsuitable Certificate Holders: Gather intelligence on certificate holders who may pose a risk to public safety.
- Updating Local Intelligence Systems: Update local intelligence systems to ensure that all relevant information is up-to-date and accessible.
- Increasing Awareness of Certificate Holder Activity: Increase awareness of certificate holder activity, ensuring that the public is informed and that public safety is maintained.
Requirements:
- Understanding of Firearms Acts and Home Office Publication: Possess a thorough understanding of Firearms Acts and Home Office Publication: Firearms Law Guidance to Police.
- Knowledge of Investigative Systems and Procedures: Have knowledge of investigative systems and procedures, including effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Effective Communication Skills: Possess effective communication skills, including the ability to work with disturbing evidence and circumstances.
- Teamwork and Time Management Skills: Demonstrate strong teamwork and time management skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
