Position Overview:
This temporary role offers the potential for extension, requiring a commitment of 37 hours per week, Monday through Friday.

Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the ongoing evaluation and management of risk associated with firearm certificate holders, ensuring vigilance 24/7 throughout the year.
- Process cases involving certificate holders flagged by law enforcement, initiating appropriate risk management protocols.
- Utilize various operational police information management systems to identify and address unsuitable firearm owners, including the prompt removal of firearms when necessary.
- Conduct thorough suitability inquiries and prepare detailed reports for review by supervisory personnel.

Monitoring and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of inquiries, ensuring timely completion and updates to local intelligence systems with new findings.
- Actively gather intelligence to pinpoint certificate holders who may pose a risk.

Collaboration:
- Work alongside internal and external partners to enhance awareness and reporting of activities that may raise concerns regarding certificate holder suitability.

Additional Requirements:
- Candidates may be required to undergo a medical assessment to ensure fitness for the role, which may include a consultation with the Occupational Health Support Unit.
- A solid understanding of the Home Office Publication: Firearms Law Guidance to Police is essential.

Qualifications:
- An investigative mindset with comprehensive knowledge of investigative systems and procedures, ideally gained through experience in law enforcement or related fields.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is required.
