Position Overview:
The Academy team is integral to the comprehensive delivery and facilitation of all engineering training programs within Services & Solutions. As a Senior Gas Trainer, you will be tasked with providing both technical and behavioral training for Field Engineers and Apprentices. Additionally, you will oversee the daily management of your designated team and site, ensuring that safety and cultural standards align with both the Academy and Centrica's expectations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the delivery of engineering training programs, ensuring that employees demonstrate competence in all aspects of their roles while adhering to relevant legislation and industry standards.
  • Design and implement engaging learning solutions focused on enhancing customer experiences with British Gas and Centrica.
  • Plan and execute training schedules for both Academy and Field-Based training, ensuring compliance with service level agreements.
  • Manage the delivery of comprehensive training schemes and programs, ensuring timely completion of all necessary documentation and reviews.
  • Prepare thoroughly for training sessions, adhering to quality standards and service level agreements.
  • Ensure compliance with awarding-body and Centrica quality frameworks across all training programs.
  • Collaborate with operational stakeholders and Academy teams to deliver programs on schedule and within budget.
  • Promote and model safety performance, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Maintain a safe and effective learning environment at Academy sites and training locations.
  • Identify and manage operational and regulatory risks appropriately.
  • Lead by example in training delivery and assessment methods, fostering an inclusive learning culture.
  • Analyze learning evaluations and feedback to drive continuous improvement in training delivery and learner engagement.
  • Work alongside the Academy Site Manager to ensure the Academy meets safety and operational standards.
  • Supervise daily health, safety, and environmental performance on site.
  • Manage team performance regarding the quality and timely progression of learning pathways for technical engineers and apprentices.
  • Provide leadership for the Academy site team, focusing on culture, professional standards, and development.
Candidate Requirements:
  • Possess Core ACS qualifications along with DAH1, CKR1, HTR1, CPA1, or alternatively, be a level 3 qualified Electrician.
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering technical and behavioral training programs within a large customer-focused organization.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage health, safety, and environmental standards in a learning environment.
  • Proven technical competence and understanding of relevant operational procedures.
  • Familiarity with National Vocational Qualifications, Scottish Vocational Qualifications, and Apprenticeship frameworks.
  • Knowledge of Quality Management Systems and ISO procedures.
  • Capability to manage both large group training sessions and smaller focused interventions.
  • Strong understanding of effective learning delivery methodologies.
  • Able to engage in performance and development discussions with team members.
  • Experience in overseeing the progression of multiple groups of technical engineers and apprentices.
  • Proven ability to build effective working relationships that yield positive results.
