Space Planning and Logistics Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Space Planning and Logistics Manager to join our team at Unipart Logistics. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for supporting the contract leads in delivering the operational and commercial aspects of the Unipart Logistics Space function across our Cowley site.
Key Responsibilities- Supply Chain Solutions: Propose and implement supply chain solutions for Unipart Logistics Distribution Centres (UL DCs) in line with industry best practice and Unipart Logistics storage principles.
- Health and Safety: Drive a Health and Safety culture within Unipart Logistics and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and environmental and quality standards within the team and their working environment.
- Storage Process Development: Lead and manage the design, implementation, and development of storage processes to create and maintain a robust framework for delivering both day-to-day work and business improvement plans.
- Inventory and Space Planning: Influence the Stock and Space Planning and Operations Management teams to recommend actions to continually improve storage facilities in line with business needs.
- Reporting and Forecasting: Report on space utilisation, storage type occupancy, costs, and productivity, and provide space and storage forecasts for operational planning over short and medium term.
- Audit and Compliance: Audit site operations against Unipart Logistics Principles and Standards, identify areas of best practice, and opportunities for improvement.
- Project Delivery: Successful delivery of project plans in terms of time, cost, and quality.
- Communication: Provide effective communications, updates, and escalations as required to management teams.
- Reporting and Analysis: Create a consistent reporting suite and output measuring critical stock and space metrics across the Cowley estate and contracts that are aligned and comparable.
- Long-term Planning: Analyse longer-term impacts of client growth and changes.
- Warehouse Management: Design and maintain warehouse maps and strategies, assign any required changes to Storage Analysts, and proactively understand and action changes in stock profiles.
- Contract Footprint Management: Manage individual contract footprint allocation to ensure charges are applied correctly.
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Space Planning and Logistics Manager who has the following skills and experience:
- Able to interact at senior level with a high degree of gravitas, impact, and credibility.
- Effective cross-process working in a collaborative environment.
- Able to build and develop relationships across all levels and functions and have experience of working with customers/stakeholders at a strategic level.
- Experience of stock and space management across multiple contracts.
- Proven track record of delivering business improvement through the application of stock and space planning best practice.
- Lean logistics and the development of lean thinking through the business.
- Extensive knowledge of integrated supply chain systems (warehouse management, inventory management, space and storage planning).
- Strong analytical skills, including handling large datasets with appropriate software (e.g., advanced MS Excel and Access).
- Strong project management skills, proven ability in implementing storage change projects.
- Experience supporting business cases and developing operational cost models for storage projects.
- Able to present and communicate clearly analysis of complex problems to senior management teams and recommendations on the best solution.
- Ability to work under pressure in a challenging and constantly changing environment.
- Educated to 'A' Level or equivalent qualification/experience.
