Recreational Support Specialist

Job Overview
The successful candidate will assist nursing personnel in upholding exceptional care standards for all patients within the facility.
This position presents a rewarding challenge that necessitates personal resilience and the capacity to empathize with individuals who are often experiencing vulnerability. An understanding of mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, psychosis, and dementia is essential, along with the ability to engage positively with diverse individuals and their unique needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate and provide recreational, social, and educational programs as part of the Ward Initiative, adhering to established goals and objectives.
- Support the organization and delivery of hospital-based activity sessions for service users, both individually and in groups, within agreed inpatient timeframes.
- Advocate for the advantages of participating in therapeutic activities within a healthcare environment to service users and fellow team members.
- Ensure all service users are informed about beneficial activities and the means to access them.
- Communicate the therapeutic objectives of activities to other team members.
- Contribute to assessments and assist in the formulation and execution of care plans.
- Following assessments, aid in the treatment of designated service users by implementing the agreed recovery plans, which may involve working with groups or individuals in various settings to promote social inclusion.
- Initiate, develop, and implement new activities based on the needs of service users, utilizing evidence-based practices where appropriate.
- Prepare therapeutic areas and necessary materials for activities, while monitoring potential risks.
