GLD operates as a non-ministerial government entity, overseen by the Attorney General, with the Treasury Solicitor as our Permanent Secretary. Our team comprises nearly 3000 individuals, including over 2000 legal experts, stationed in various locations including London, Leeds, Bristol, Croydon, and Manchester, as well as internationally. We specialize in legal services such as Litigation, Employment, and Commercial Law, while also advising numerous Government Departments on their policies and services.

Our corporate functions encompass Strategy, Human Resources, Finance, Digital, Data and Technology, Communications, Security, Commercial, and Project Management.

Role Responsibilities
The successful candidates will be tasked with:
- Collaborating with transactional processing teams to accurately document financial transactions (receipts and payments) promptly, adhering to established rules and controls to safeguard government funds.
- Overseeing the team’s inbox to ensure timely responses to all inquiries, prioritizing urgent requests and escalating complex issues to line managers for swift resolution.
- Engaging with customers and clients to address outstanding queries.
- Providing coverage for colleagues on leave as necessary and escalating any challenging issues to line management to ensure urgent matters are addressed.
- Maintaining vigilance against potential fraud.
- Effectively resolving routine issues and seeking guidance from relevant personnel when necessary to identify solutions.
- Communicating with team members to clarify objectives and foster a working environment that promotes diversity, inclusion, and equality.
- Managing credit control, pursuing debts, and handling client inquiries to ensure prompt payment of invoices.
- Demonstrating strong organizational skills, accuracy, and the ability to work efficiently while taking the initiative to resolve issues. Proficiency in IT is essential, as extensive communication with clients, suppliers, and colleagues will occur via email, phone, and in-person interactions.
- Exhibiting a keen interest in government finance, with opportunities for professional development in accountancy examinations funded and supported by GLD through paid study leave for candidates demonstrating potential.
