Lead Cardiac Catheterization Nurse | Equivalent to Band 6, based on experience | Full-Time, Monday to Friday with one Saturday per month | No Night Shifts | Spire Healthcare Ltd

Spire Healthcare Ltd is seeking a skilled Lead Cardiac Catheterization Nurse to enhance our distinguished cardiology team. We are expanding our cardiac services to incorporate a broader range of vascular and structural interventions, alongside an increase in complex cardiac surgeries, with the goal of establishing ourselves as the premier cardiology department in the region.

Recently, we achieved a significant milestone, treating our 100th NHS PFO (Patent Foramen Ovale closure) case, solidifying our position as Europe's leading center for PFO closures.

We provide comprehensive support through various funded educational opportunities, including cardiology pre-assessment courses, resuscitation training, and two cardiology courses annually.

Our facility boasts a cutting-edge cardiac hybrid theatre designed for advanced procedures. Under the guidance of our leadership and the commitment of our cardiac unit staff, we have successfully treated numerous patients from the surrounding areas.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will lead and support our proficient cardiac team, ensuring that our patients receive exceptional care. Your daily responsibilities will vary across multiple areas of the hospital, including cardiology pre-assessment, cardiac catheterization lab, outpatient services, operating theatres, and supporting wards with cardiac patients.

  • Assist Cardiology consultants during patient consultations.
  • Utilize effective inter-departmental communication skills to guide patients throughout their journey with Spire Healthcare.
  • Perform clinical procedures requiring precision and skill, including scrubbing for a full spectrum of complex interventional cardiology procedures and assisting with the implantation of IABP, TAVI, and other intricate devices as our hospital evolves.
  • Provide support to non-invasive cardiology services in the Outpatient Department when necessary.
  • Deliver cardiology expertise to ward and critical care patients, serving as a resource for other staff members.
  • Assist senior staff in maintaining high standards of cardiology care across all departments.
  • Prepare the hybrid theatre, anaesthetic room, and outpatient cardiology suite for procedures, ensuring all necessary instrumentation, equipment, and supplies are available and functioning properly.
  • Independently manage a cardiology list and mentor junior staff.

Who We Are Looking For:

The ideal candidate will be an experienced cardiac nurse with expertise in various cardiac domains, including structural work, and preferably possess prior senior experience. However, we are open to considering candidates ready to step into a senior role who demonstrate the necessary skills and experience.

  • Current NMC registration with no practice restrictions.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in a cardiac catheterization lab, scrubbing for both routine and complex cardiology procedures, including EPS ablation.
  • ALS certification.
  • Confident and capable, with the ability to work independently.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Flexible approach to work and schedules.
  • Essential scrub experience; familiarity with EPS Ablation is a distinct advantage.
