About the Role:

Bicycle Therapeutics is seeking a highly skilled Research Scientist to join our dynamic and fast-paced team. As a key member of our Medicinal Chemistry team, you will be responsible for the design and synthesis of novel Bicycles and conjugates, with a focus on developing lead candidates for our oncology pipeline.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and synthesis of novel Bicycles and conjugates
  • Management of external resources to deliver on synthetic and analytical tasks
  • Collaboration with the scientific team to progress our oncology pipeline
  • Application of structure-based design, non-natural amino acids, linkers, and conjugation chemistries
  • Chemical optimization of Bicycle monomers and design of Bicycle oncology agents
  • Close interaction with Platform, Biology, DMPK, and in vivo Pharmacology teams
  • Presenting research results effectively to line managers, project team members, and management-level meetings
  • Coordination of chemistry at external contract research organizations (CROs)

Requirements:

  • Relevant industry or academic experience in contemporary medicinal chemistry
  • Design and synthesis of bioactive peptides and conjugates in preclinical drug discovery programs
  • Experience in interpreting SAR data (activity, selectivity, DMPK characteristics, physical properties, etc.)
  • Managing external resources to accomplish project tasks
  • Comfortable sharing knowledge with the wider company team and reporting work to the scientific or industry community
  • Experience in peptide chemistry research (desirable)
  • Use of structure-based drug design and computational modeling and data analysis software
