About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Retail Store Manager to join our team at Mencap. As a key member of our retail team, you will be responsible for leading our Loughborough Shop to achieve its full potential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement effective in-store systems to maximize profits and donations.
  • Represent Mencap as a charitable and efficient organization, ensuring that your actions align with our values and aims.
  • Source stock from local areas and donors, and ensure that our store is well-stocked and visually appealing.
  • Manage the Gift Aid scheme, ensuring that donors are signed up and maximum income is achieved.
  • Meet profit targets by maximizing sales and effectively managing costs.
  • Maintain the store to a high standard of presentation, ensuring that it is clean, tidy, and welcoming.
  • Build and manage an effective volunteer team, providing training, development, and support.
  • Oversee all financial and cash handling, as well as health and safety.
Requirements
  • Experience as an assistant manager or supervisor, with a proven track record of maintaining budgets and completing financial tasks accurately.
  • A flexible approach to working hours and days, including weekends and Bank Holidays.
  • Ability to travel to team meetings, training events, and other retail-related activities.
