Job Overview
Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People is seeking a skilled and experienced Band 6 Assistant Nursing Manager to become a vital part of our compassionate and nurturing care team. Our nursing professionals deliver exceptional care to infants, children, and adolescents facing life-limiting and life-threatening health challenges.
Core Responsibilities
If you possess experience in caring for infants, children, and young individuals with intricate care requirements and are dedicated to providing exemplary nursing services in a family-centered atmosphere, we encourage you to consider this opportunity.
About Our Organization
We are in search of a qualified and seasoned Band 6 Assistant Nursing Manager to join our esteemed clinical care team. In this role, you will lead a small group of nurses and healthcare assistants, becoming part of a dynamic team that offers symptom management, palliative care, and planned respite services at our facility. We provide individualized nursing care to all infants, children, and young individuals in our care. As a member of the care team, you will collaborate with a multidisciplinary group of skilled professionals, including music therapists, complementary therapists, and our non-medical workforce.
Our hospice operates year-round, 24/7, which necessitates a shift-based work schedule to ensure optimal service delivery.
Key Benefits of Joining Rainbows:
In addition to competitive pay scales, we offer a variety of benefits, including:
- Opportunities for current NHS pension scheme members to transfer their membership
- Complimentary on-site parking
- Shift enhancements
- Generous annual leave plus bank holidays
- Comprehensive training programs to support NMC registration compliance
- Specialized training and support in palliative care
- Dedicated time for patient care, ensuring 1:1 attention
- A supportive team environment with specialized knowledge
- Bupa healthcare cashback plan
- Subsidized meals during shifts
- Access to an employee assistance program for health and wellbeing
- Support for mental health and access to trained first aiders
Role Responsibilities
As a Band 6 Assistant Nursing Manager, you will be responsible for supervising a small team and identifying their training and development needs through regular appraisals. You will provide clinical leadership on a shift-by-shift basis and may act as the Shift Coordinator, taking responsibility for decisions made and managing staff during your shift.
Key Duties Include:
- Ensuring effective teamwork principles are upheld throughout each shift.
- Supporting the Lead Nurse and Head of Hospice and Community Services in their roles while promoting the hospice's vision, mission, and values.
- Planning and executing care for children and young individuals with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions.
- Assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care in collaboration with patients and their families.
- Delivering outstanding short break, palliative, and end-of-life care in a family-centered environment alongside all members of the multidisciplinary team.
- Ensuring compliance with local and national policies during all procedures.
Qualifications and Experience Required:
To be considered for the Band 6 Assistant Nursing Manager position, you must be a qualified RSCN/RN (Child Branch)/RNLD/RGN with a minimum of three years of post-registration experience. Experience working with children and/or young individuals (0-25 years) with complex needs is essential.
While experience in palliative care is desirable, we provide specialist training and development opportunities. Strong communication skills and the ability to demonstrate high standards of clinical care are critical. Additional requirements can be found in the Person Specification.
Note:
This role is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Check and pre-employment checks.
