Bodmin, Cornwall, United Kingdom Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust Full time

We are seeking dedicated and enthusiastic team members to join our organization as salaried General Practitioners within our virtual ward and Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) teams. The primary location for these roles will be within our community hospital settings, with potential opportunities in additional facilities as our services expand.

In this position, you will collaborate closely with our clinical GP colleagues and eldercare specialists, ensuring comprehensive care for our patients. We are looking for individuals who are available to work:

  1. Weekdays
  2. Weekends

Qualified GPs with experience in primary care and a passion for innovation are encouraged to apply. We offer extensive training upon the commencement of clinical responsibilities, along with a competitive package for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and annual leave.

Key Responsibilities

The GP role will be situated in the Same Day Emergency Care clinic, where you will work alongside skilled frailty nurses and Advanced Clinical Practitioners. Your responsibilities will include assessing patients with urgent care needs and determining their suitability for home care supported by the virtual ward. Our clinical facilities are equipped with advanced diagnostic tools, including Point of Care testing, X-rays, CT scans, and MRIs, enabling a wide range of therapeutic interventions.

Additionally, you will collaborate with nursing staff on the Virtual Ward and eldercare consultants to evaluate the appropriateness of the Virtual Ward for patient treatment and to provide guidance in cases of patient deterioration and the necessity for hospital admission.

Your role will involve conducting clinical reviews of patients and working in partnership with a well-established multidisciplinary team (MDT) and senior nursing staff.

Our commitment to keeping frail patients closer to home aligns with national healthcare objectives and is transforming patient management outside of acute hospital environments. This innovative area of practice is dynamic and continuously evolving, making it ideal for professionals who thrive on influencing patient care and engaging in new clinical pathways and methodologies.
