**About the store**

Specsavers in Bodmin first opened its doors in 2003. The store sits in a prominent position on the main high street and is firmly embedded within the local community. The loyal and growing customer base includes shoppers from as far as St Austell, Truro and Saltash as well as those visiting the nearby convenience stores such as Asda, Sainsburys and Morrisons.

The store has undergone two impressive refits within the last 3 years and now boasts 5 test rooms, an eye refract room, an overflow waiting and dispense area, as well as an onsite lab with brand new equipment and a new staff room. They offer enhanced clinical services including MECKS, Post cat and OHT monitor clinics. Specsavers in Bodmin, have a clear-sighted vision to transform eye health in their community.

A team of 22 dedicated and passionate colleagues call this store home. The current Partners have always been really passionate about the clinical development of the team, and as the new Optometry Director you would have the scope to advise on training requirements, introduce new specialisms and build/shape the team further as required.

**Store location**

The store is located in the beautiful Cornish town of Bodmin, known for its steam railway and historic jail (no longer in use but a popular tourist attraction). The stunning moorland which surrounds the town has attracted cyclists and walkers for generations and has been designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Not only does it mark the start of the famous Camel Trail which connects Bodmin with Padstow via 18 miles of beautiful woodland and Cornish scenery but is only 30 minutes’ drive from sandy beaches and picturesque fishing villages. There are good transport links: easy access to main roads such as the A30, regular buses, a train station about 5 minutes drive away and good taxi services. The store also boasts onsite parking for 5 cars.

**Requirements of the role**

Alongside being a qualified and GOC registered Optometrist, you’ll need to share the store’s ethos. They’re looking for someone who wants to grow and develop the team, offer exceptional customer care and improve patient outcomes. You’ll be a practitioner who prides themself on their clinical judgment, isn’t afraid of a hands-on approach, and someone who is keen to get involved and build a rapport with their team.
