Position Overview

An exciting opportunity has emerged within the Early Intervention for Psychosis team at Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust for qualified professionals passionate about enhancing their clinical expertise in this specialized area.

In alignment with the national initiative to promote early intervention in psychosis, we invite applications from Occupational Therapists eager to engage with our diverse caseload, assisting individuals in achieving positive health outcomes.

As a practitioner in the Early Intervention in Psychosis (EIP) team, you will play a vital role in triaging, assessing, and providing a structured treatment pathway over a three-year duration, adhering to NICE guidelines for individuals experiencing their first episode of psychosis. Your work will emphasize social inclusion and recovery approaches, fostering connections with various agencies and general practitioners within the community to create opportunities for individuals.

Key Responsibilities

You will manage a portion of the team’s caseload in accordance with EIP guidelines, receiving support from seasoned clinicians within a multidisciplinary framework. Your responsibilities will include engaging with clients and their support networks to educate and empower them. Regular supervision and monthly service-focused continuing professional development (CPD) events will be integral to your role.

We are committed to supporting qualified clinicians in gaining training in Family Intervention and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Psychosis over the coming years, enhancing the psychological interventions we provide.

The ideal candidate will possess an understanding of national directives regarding physical health and psychiatric medications. Applicants must demonstrate their relevant experience in their supporting documentation, addressing the essential criteria outlined in the job description.

Role Requirements

Essential Qualifications

  • BSc/Diploma in Occupational Therapy
  • Experience working with patients with complex needs
  • Relevant postgraduate experience in specialized areas such as AMPS, sensory integration, DBT, CBT, MOHOST, and Allen's cognitive scales

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience working with individuals experiencing their first episode of psychosis
  • Training in group work facilitation
