About the Role

We are seeking an experienced geology and materials scientist to join our team at Sandberg, a leading materials consultancy. The successful candidate will be based in our London laboratories and will work on a wide range of materials-related projects, including site work in the UK and occasionally overseas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct microscopical analysis of natural and man-made materials.
  • Investigate and test construction materials, including natural materials such as rock, stone, and aggregate, and man-made materials such as concrete, render, and mortar.
  • Assist with on-site testing and investigations.
  • Laboratory testing to ensure that materials comply with relevant specifications.
  • Client liaison and project management.
  • Collate and analyse test data, preparing test reports.
  • Mineralogical and elemental analysis using SEM and XRD.
Requirements
  • 5 or more years of experience in a similar industry.
  • A good degree in Geology or Materials Science, with knowledge of construction materials.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • A dynamic work ethic to learn and develop new skills.
  • Ability to work professionally as part of a team.
  • Good IT skills.
  • Full UK or EU driving licence.
