About the Role

We are seeking an experienced geology and geomaterials scientist to join our team at Sandberg, a leading materials consultancy providing testing, inspection, and consultancy services to the civil engineering industry.

The successful applicant will be working with a well-qualified team with a wide range of geological, chemical, materials science, and engineering expertise and experience to assess and advise on a wide range of materials-related issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct microscopical analysis of both natural and man-made materials.
  • Investigate and test construction materials, including natural materials such as rock, stone, slate, and aggregate, and man-made materials such as concrete, render, plaster, and mortar.
  • Assist with on-site testing and investigations.
  • Perform laboratory testing to ensure that materials comply with relevant specifications.
  • Liaise with clients and manage projects.
  • Collate and analyze test data, prepare test reports.
  • Conduct mineralogical and elemental analysis using SEM and XRD.
Desired Qualifications and Experience
  • 5 or more years of experience in a similar industry.
  • A good degree in Geology or Materials Science, with knowledge of construction materials.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • A dynamic work ethic to learn and develop new skills.
  • Ability to work professionally as part of a team.
  • Good IT skills.
  • A full UK or EU driving license.
