About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our team at a fantastic secondary school in Barnet. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing support to students with autism across the spectrum, working closely with the teaching staff to ensure the best possible outcomes for our students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish a positive relationship with students and provide individualized support to meet their needs
  • Consider the learning environment and make adjustments as necessary to ensure students feel comfortable and supported
  • Manage changes and transitions to minimize disruption and stress for students
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with students, parents, and colleagues
  • Integrate students' interests into lesson plans and activities to promote engagement and motivation
  • Work collaboratively with parents and carers to ensure consistency and support for students
  • Build resilience and adaptability to meet the changing needs of students and the school

About the School:

The school is a Special Resource Provision within a secondary school, offering a supportive and inclusive environment for students with autism. The provision is designed to provide for students who have a diagnosis of an autistic spectrum condition (ASC) as a primary need in their Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). The school follows a highly differentiated curriculum, focusing on developing social cognition through the SCERTS framework and the Social Thinking curriculum.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young adults with special education needs
  • Ability to establish positive relationships with students and colleagues
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of students and the school
