We are seeking a Pharmacy Support Technician to join our clean room operations. Comprehensive training will be provided in all facets of aseptic preparation of intravenous products. We are in the process of developing a proposal to transition to a cutting-edge aseptic unit.
The successful candidate will be required to participate in weekend, evening, and holiday duty schedules. Core working hours will be within the range of 7am to 8pm. Consideration for part-time hours is available.
Key Responsibilities
Your role will involve technical tasks in the formulation of systemic anti-cancer therapies (SACT) within the Pharmacy Production clean room, ensuring that all products are prepared in accordance with quality standards to guarantee patient safety. The ideal applicant will have a solid educational background. If not already obtained, you will complete the Certificate in the Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Support Staff - BTEC Level 2: Unit 7 - Principles of Safe Preparation and Manufacturing of Medicines and Medicinal Products (in-house training is available). A flexible approach to meet the needs of the Pharmacy and the Trust is essential.

Job Duties
Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing chemotherapy and injectable medications using isolator technology within the clean room, under the guidance of a senior technician or specialist.
- Creating basic product documentation, performing simple calculations, and generating product labels using electronic systems.
- Assembling the necessary materials and supplies for each preparation, ensuring strict segregation of each product using designated systems.
- Adhering to all standard operating procedures to ensure safe product preparation and conducting environmental monitoring as required.
- Maintaining cleanliness in the aseptic suite following established protocols.
- Completing and organizing all relevant documentation and reports.
- Supervising and training new staff members in production services as directed by senior personnel.
- Conducting routine housekeeping tasks within the Production Services department, including stock management and expiry date checks.
- Reporting any cleanliness or maintenance issues in the clean rooms to a senior staff member.
Qualifications and Skills
Essential:
- Demonstrated interest in scientific principles.
- Understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
- Familiarity with environmental monitoring techniques.
Desirable:
- Experience in a healthcare or clean room setting.
- Prior aseptic experience.
Education:

- GCSE qualifications (or equivalent) in Mathematics and English.

- NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services.
- Completion of in-house training and competency assessments for product preparation.
