The Scottish Prison Service is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Operations Officer to join our team at HMP Kilmarnock. As an Operations Officer, you will play a critical role in maintaining custody and order within the prison, while also facilitating opportunities for offenders to transform their lives.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain custody and order within the prison, ensuring the safety and security of staff, offenders, and visitors.
- Facilitate visits between offenders and their families, promoting positive relationships and supporting rehabilitation.
- Monitor and manage security systems, including CCTV, alarms, and communication systems, to maintain a safe and secure environment.
- Escort offenders safely and securely within the prison and externally, as required.
- Manage the movement of offenders between residential areas, education, health, and work areas, ensuring their safety and security.
- Work collaboratively with other teams to achieve the Scottish Prison Service's vision of 'Helping to build a safer Scotland by Unlocking Potential and Transforming Lives'.
- Experience working in a custodial environment, with a strong understanding of security protocols and procedures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with offenders, staff, and visitors.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment, with a strong focus on collaboration and problem-solving.
- Basic numeracy and literacy skills, with the ability to comprehend and articulate information clearly.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development, with a willingness to undertake training and qualifications to support learning and growth.
The Scottish Prison Service's recruitment and selection practice is based on the fundamentals of our Behavioural Competency Framework.
