Operations Officer

The Scottish Prison Service is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Operations Officer to join our team at HMP Kilmarnock. As an Operations Officer, you will play a critical role in maintaining custody and order within the establishment, while also facilitating opportunities for offenders to engage in education, training, and rehabilitation programs.
Key Responsibilities- Manage the operational running of the establishment, ensuring the safety and security of staff, offenders, and visitors.
- Provide support and guidance to offenders, promoting positive behavior and encouraging them to take responsibility for their actions.
- Contribute to the prevention and management of challenging behavior, using effective communication and problem-solving skills.
- Work collaboratively with other teams to ensure the smooth operation of the establishment, including Front of House, Visits, Electronic Control Room, Patrol, and Prisoner Reception.
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with offenders, their families, and other stakeholders, promoting a positive and supportive environment.
- Ensure compliance with SPS policies and procedures, maintaining high standards of security, safety, and confidentiality.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. You will have a strong commitment to delivering high-quality services, with a focus on offender rehabilitation and reintegration into the community.
Essential qualifications include a basic level of numeracy and literacy skills, with the ability to comprehend and articulate information effectively. Experience of working with others, influencing behavior, and problem-solving is also essential.
