Please note: This position is fully remote.

Role Overview for the position of Senior Engineering Leader:

  • Oversee, direct, and coordinate all design initiatives to ensure that the objectives of the design division are met within the established timelines and budgetary constraints.
  • Facilitate the review and endorsement process of engineering and design outputs, as necessary.
  • Develop work plans and staffing strategies for each design project and organize the assignment of design personnel.
  • Collaborate with design staff to outline work plans and allocate duties, responsibilities, and authority.
  • Assess status reports generated by design personnel and adjust schedules or plans as needed.

Key Responsibilities of a Senior Engineering Leader:

  • Engage with other functional and departmental managers to understand the essential aspects and requirements of design personnel development, ensuring they are well-informed of design objectives, purposes, and accomplishments.
  • Ensure that activities align with and integrate organizational standards for quality management, health and safety, legal requirements, environmental policies, and general duty of care.
  • Formulate policies regarding duty of care and corporate responsibility, establishing direction and strategy.
  • Manage and nurture direct reporting staff.
  • Oversee and regulate departmental expenditures within approved budgets.
  • Develop and implement strategies and processes aimed at delivering efficient and effective services.
  • Direct and harmonize the activities of multiple design projects, ensuring that design efforts are cohesive, consistent, and effectively support the company’s mission, goals, and strategic plan.
  • Establish and define policies, strategies, and operational objectives.
  • Participate in and supervise the development, implementation, and maintenance of individual design objectives and both short- and long-term plans; create tracking and evaluation programs to assist in achieving established design goals and objectives.
  • Facilitate the review and endorsement process of all engineering outputs as required.

The ideal Senior Engineering Leader will possess:

  • Extensive design experience across various sectors (Offshore, Subsea, Marine, Onshore Structural Design & Fabrication).
  • Demonstrated engineering-related business experience and skills.
  • Exceptional supervisory, management, and leadership capabilities.
  • Proficiency in effectively managing a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and support staff.
  • Expertise in identifying resource requirements and managing them effectively.
  • Ability to identify and conceptualize innovative engineering solutions.
  • Capability to coach and mentor other members of the design team, workshop, and project engineering staff.
