THE OPPORTUNITY:

Altus Partners is collaborating with a leading Private Equity-backed retail organization to identify a dynamic and experienced Senior Financial Operations Leader. This role is crucial as the company seeks to strengthen its financial leadership framework.

As a strategic addition to the team, this position will report directly to the CFO, providing the successful candidate with the autonomy and responsibility to lead, develop, and enhance the Group Controls function.

The organization currently boasts revenues of £240 million and a robust EBITDA, with the role situated at the company’s headquarters.

The Senior Financial Operations Leader will play a vital role in executing the business's value creation strategy and preparing for a potential exit in the near future.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Directly reporting to the CFO, you will deliver essential financial reporting and insights that drive the company's growth.
  • Oversee monthly reporting and presentations to Private Equity stakeholders.
  • Lead a team of 22 professionals, including 5 direct reports, ensuring ongoing support, mentorship, and development of the leadership structure.
  • Manage and develop teams focused on Payables, Receivables, Financial/Management Accounting, Tax, and Treasury.
  • Supervise the month-end process and consolidation for the group’s multiple entities.
  • Oversee statutory accounting and year-end processes across all entities.
  • Enhance reporting cycles and management accounts through process development and implementation.
  • Manage cash flow and maintain strong banking relationships.
  • Drive the effective use and development of the accounting ERP system to improve internal processes.
  • Ensure compliance with both Direct and Indirect Tax obligations and deadlines.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

  • Qualified Accountant, preferably with an audit background.
  • Demonstrated experience as a Financial Controller, with a proven track record in team development and process improvement.
  • A commercial mindset towards controllership.
  • Experience in leading Treasury and Tax functions is advantageous.
  • Exposure to Private Equity or multi-site operations is beneficial but not essential.
  • This role offers hybrid working options, requiring on-site presence three days a week.
