Brucella Production and Diagnostics Manager

We are seeking an experienced microbiologist to join our Brucella team within the Department of Bacteriology. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the maintenance, development, and delivery of Brucella diagnostics and R&D activities in a containment level 2 (CL2) laboratory.
Your primary focus will be on managing the production of diagnostic reagents and antigens supporting UK surveillance, international trade, and commercial sales. You will work closely with our team to ensure the highest quality standards are met, adhering to ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 17025:2017 quality standards where applicable.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and maintain diagnostic reagents and antigens for Brucella surveillance, international trade, and commercial sales
- Conduct microbiological testing and analysis in a CL2 laboratory environment
- Collaborate with the team to ensure quality standards are met and maintained
- Support the development of new diagnostic techniques and methods
- Contribute to the development of training programs and materials for laboratory staff
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A minimum of 3 A levels including a qualification in biology, chemistry, or mathematics
- Experience of diagnostic testing in a laboratory environment
- Knowledge and experience of standard bacteriological or transferable microbiological techniques
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
