Your advanced assessment skills will be utilized to evaluate patients with varied and complex conditions, establishing clinical diagnoses and developing effective treatment strategies as an independent practitioner, adhering to professional standards.

Your six-month rotations will encompass:

  • Musculoskeletal outpatient services, including upper limb, spinal, and pediatric rotations
  • Hydrotherapy sessions
  • Rehabilitation in gym settings, including specialized groups
  • Orthopedic inpatient care, covering spinal and private wards
  • Orthopedic oncology

About Our Organization

The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is dedicated to providing planned orthopedic surgeries to individuals both locally and beyond.

Our facility is uniquely positioned; large enough to deliver exceptional services while small enough to foster outstanding patient and staff experiences. We are continuously seeking passionate individuals to join our award-winning team.

We are an equal opportunity employer, committed to fostering an inclusive culture where diversity is celebrated, and all employees feel empowered to bring their authentic selves to work.

As a Disability Confident Leader, we offer a variety of inclusive, family-friendly, and flexible working arrangements to support our workforce.

Job Duties

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Participate in a six-month rotational scheme at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital, covering outpatient services, gym rehabilitation, hydrotherapy, orthopedic inpatient care, and pediatric outpatient services.
  • Assume professional and legal accountability for all aspects of your work, managing your patient caseload independently.
  • Conduct advanced physiotherapeutic assessments of patients with diverse and complex conditions, utilizing manual assessment techniques and clinical reasoning to establish diagnoses.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on evidence-based practices, modifying them as necessary to meet patient needs.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, caregivers, and other professionals to maximize rehabilitation potential and ensure understanding of conditions and treatments.
  • Take on delegated responsibilities from the Team Leader, including clinical and managerial tasks, and appropriately delegate to junior staff and students.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive documentation in accordance with departmental standards, ensuring effective communication of assessment and treatment outcomes.
  • Represent the physiotherapy service at ward rounds, clinics, and case conferences, collaborating with multidisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated patient care.
  • Provide professional guidance to other hospital staff, offering specialist advice and training regarding physiotherapy practices.
  • Actively participate in the evening and weekend on-call physiotherapy service as required.

Professional Development

  • Maintain your clinical professional development and portfolio by staying informed about new trends and integrating them into practice.
  • Engage in the in-service training program through attendance and presentations at departmental training sessions.
  • Provide clinical supervision and experience for undergraduate physiotherapy students during your rotation.
  • Measure and evaluate current practices through evidence-based audits and outcome measures.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of Clinical Governance and Risk Management, applying it to your work in accordance with departmental policies.

Organizational Responsibilities

  • Act as deputy for the Team Leader in their absence, managing daily team operations and prioritizing service delivery.
  • Uphold high professional standards regarding patient care, colleague interactions, and service delivery.
  • Liaise with senior staff on issues related to service development and delivery.
  • Ensure safe and competent use of equipment within your practice area, providing teaching and supervision as needed.
  • Comply with all Health and Safety standards, promptly reporting any incidents.
  • Stay current with mandatory training in line with Trust policies.

This is not an exhaustive list of duties, and regular reviews will occur as part of ongoing development and performance management.
