Senior Insurance Claims Specialist

Job Purpose:
This role is crucial for managing claims across various insurance sectors, including Protection and Indemnity (P&I), Freight, Demurrage and Defence (FD&D), Hull and Machinery (H&M), Loss of Hire (LOH), War, Kidnap and Ransom (K&R), and Special Operations Loss (SOL), as well as addressing commercial disputes that are not covered by insurance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee P&I claims from initiation to resolution with minimal oversight from the Head of Insurance & Claims.
- Manage H&M claims, coordinating with AET, MISC Marine, H&M brokers, underwriters, and adjusters to ensure claims are handled efficiently from start to finish.
- Ensure timely and complete recovery collections.
- Address FD&D, War, K&R, SOL, and other claims in collaboration with the Head of Insurance & Claims.
- Provide emergency support and out-of-hours assistance for business needs.
- Offer guidance to HR Sea, HSSE, chartering, operations, and post-fixture teams on various claims-related and commercial matters.
- Communicate with P&I Clubs regarding claims and respond to general inquiries.
- Engage and oversee external consultants, including experts, surveyors, adjusters, and legal advisors as necessary.
- Maintain the AET Claims Database effectively.
- Follow up on outstanding claims documentation and manage general claims administration tasks.
- Process claims debit and credit notes accurately.
- Assist with additional tasks as directed by the Head of Insurance & Claims.
- Adhere to the Company's policies and the Code of Conduct and Business Ethics (CoBE).
Qualifications:
- Education: A degree in a relevant field, preferably in shipping studies.
- Experience: Background in a marine claims or insurance setting (e.g., P&I Club, Shipowner).
- Specialized Knowledge: A minimum of three (3) years of experience in marine insurance, claims, or maritime law. Comprehensive understanding of shipping law, with experience in handling P&I and H&M claims. Strong multitasking abilities and capability to work with limited supervision. Awareness of commercial and cultural factors.
- Skills and Abilities: Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, along with advanced business writing and communication capabilities.
