The Role: Lead Technical Designer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Technical Designer to join our team. In this role, you will lead our design team, focusing on developing detailed and practical construction plans for a variety of projects within the film, television, and events sectors.

Your expertise in construction specific to these industries will be crucial in solving complex design challenges efficiently and promoting a problem-solving mindset within your team. You will transform client briefs into comprehensive construction plans, collaborating closely with various teams to ensure practicality in CNC fabrication.

While 3D rendering skills are beneficial, your primary focus will be on technical construction planning and innovative problem-solving.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor a team of designers, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
  • Develop detailed and practical construction plans for film sets, events, and other projects.
  • Leverage your specialist knowledge in construction specific to the TV, film, and events industries to ensure designs are feasible and efficient.
  • Collaborate with various teams, including fabrication, production, and clients, to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements in construction techniques and technologies.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 6 years of experience in technical design, specifically within the TV, film, and events industries.
  • Proven ability to efficiently problem-solve and encourage a team of designers to adopt a similar approach.
  • Strong background in construction detailing and technical plan development.
  • Proficiency in Rhino, Vray, Sketchup, AutoCAD, InDesign, and Photoshop.
