Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Regulatory Affairs Specialist and Competition Policy Expert to join our Legal and Corporate Affairs team in London, UK. The successful candidate will provide senior-level advice on antitrust, litigation, regulation, and M&A matters, collaborating with various teams within Liberty Global.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support regulatory policy and legal elements of merger control processes.
  • Advise on antitrust issues in multi-national M&A matters, providing legal support during due diligence, reviewing relevant deal documentation, and offering pre-closing guidance and antitrust support in integration workstreams.
  • Provide legal and regulatory guidance on contractual and behavioral competition law matters, including horizontal and vertical agreements.
  • Support the development and implementation of antitrust compliance programs and antitrust elements of policies.
  • Support regulatory aspects related to networks, services, products, and consumer issues, including telecoms, digital services, and network, media regulation, content, and copyright.
  • Advise on product regulation, CE/UKCA marking, and the application of telecoms and media regulation to devices and products offered by Liberty Global.
  • Engage in strategic company projects and provide advice and analysis as required.
  • Support Liberty Global departments and subsidiaries to ensure a uniform approach on major regulatory issues.
  • Disseminate regulatory and competition law best practice and expertise within Liberty Global.
  • Stay up-to-date on relevant legal and commercial developments to provide high-quality support to colleagues within the organization.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in written and spoken English.
  • Relevant years of experience as a paralegal or legal assistant in a law firm or an in-house legal team.
  • Excellent advocacy skills and research skills.
  • Highly organized with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to succeed in an environment with high task and role ambiguity.
  • Strong prioritization, project management, and time management skills.
  • Focus on understanding business needs and developing practical solutions.
  • Self-starter who can work independently and as part of a team.
  • Confident learner with a willingness to acquire new skills and adapt to changing situations.
  • Well-developed sense of business ethics.
  • Great interpersonal skills.

Desirable Skills and Abilities

  • Understanding of regulatory frameworks and competitive landscape within the telecommunications and media industry in Europe.
  • Keen interest in and knowledge about UK politics.
  • Familiarity with the law and economics around economics of competition and regulation.
  • Appreciation of the technology Liberty Global's products and services and the policy issues that technology drives.
  • Broad commercial interests and business acumen.
  • Eager to learn new technologies and ideas.
  • Comfortable working across cross-cultural boundaries and all levels of an organization.
  • Ability to work in European languages other than English.
  • Ability to reduce the complexity of legal advice and deliver it to the business in clear and concise language.

Preferred Education/Qualifications

  • Relevant undergraduate or master's degree in law, economics, or a related field.
