Position: Security Systems Manager for Automated Detection

Contract Type: Fixed Term

Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated Security Systems Manager for Automated Detection to lead our efforts in enhancing the capabilities of our security operations. This role is pivotal in transforming our security framework and ensuring operational excellence.

As part of our commitment to professional development, you will receive comprehensive training and support to advance your career within our organization.

Key Responsibilities:

The primary objective of this position is to expedite the implementation of Automated Prohibited Item Detection (APIDS) to improve efficiency and optimize staffing levels. Currently, there are three APIDS initiatives involving collaboration with the X Ray Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and two external solution providers. Successful advancement will necessitate a proactive stance on supplier product evolution, negotiations with regulatory bodies, and careful selection of the final technology solution.

In addition to the technical aspects, the candidate must consider human factors, associated risks, and operational readiness. This strategically significant role involves navigating complex technologies and effectively communicating with various stakeholders, including other airports within our group. This position will reinforce our status as a leading airport in the UK for APIDS and maintain strong credibility with regulatory authorities.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Oversee the phased rollout of APIDS technology with the aim of achieving significant workforce savings.
  • Assist the Security Operations team during the transition, identifying and addressing risks at their source.
  • Engage proactively with solution providers, holding them accountable for ongoing advancements.
  • Collaborate closely with regulatory agencies to ensure that solutions are feasible for real-world applications.

Qualifications:

  • Extensive technical expertise (minimum of 5 years) with a thorough understanding of current security technologies (e.g., x-ray, trace detection, scanning, walk-through metal detectors).
  • In-depth knowledge of security regulations.
  • Established credibility within the industry, strong networking abilities, and negotiation skills.
  • A strong drive for achieving results.
  • Ability to communicate complex information to non-technical audiences at various organizational levels.
  • A respectful yet assertive approach to suppliers to maximize outcomes and ensure awareness of emerging technologies.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to gather relevant data, draw insightful conclusions, and tailor presentations to the audience.
  • Project management experience, particularly in testing new algorithms.
  • Proficient technical writing skills for documentation and protocol requests.
  • A commercially aware mindset throughout the project lifecycle.

Work Environment:

Our employees describe their experience here as unique and dynamic, with no two days being the same. In addition to a competitive salary, we offer a variety of personal, health, and financial benefits, including:

  • Performance-based bonus opportunities
  • Discounts at various retailers and restaurants
  • Comprehensive healthcare plans
  • Life and disability insurance
  • Professional development training
  • Discounted commuting options
  • Opportunities for community service

Our Commitment to Diversity:

At our organization, we recognize that our people are our greatest asset. We strive to create an inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and has a voice. We are dedicated to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of our operations.

If you require any accommodations during the application process, please reach out to us directly.
