Head of Corporate Strategy

Cedar Recruitment is seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Corporate Strategy to join our client's transformation programme for a Carbon Neutral/net zero future. As a key member of the Executive Committee, you will drive and design the corporate strategy for the future of this newly formed function.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in corporate strategy management, with experience in rapid scaling up projects and a proven ability to apply a broad set of strategic frameworks to solve real issues. You will be responsible for creating a corporate strategy that guides a long-term future, assisting the organisation in determining its strategic direction, and finding strategies that will seize opportunities, foresee and mitigate risks, and recognise the resources, capabilities, and transformation required to make the organisation successful.

You will work closely with the Executive Committee and senior leadership teams, as well as across the wider organisation, on the highest priority issues. As a high-calibre, curious, motivated, and inclusive directorate, you will have the opportunity to lead and deliver high-priority projects at pace, with a focus on accelerating progress.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a corporate strategy that aligns with the organisation's purpose and vision.
  • Provide high-quality intellectual leadership, enabling the organisation to understand what it needs to do to be successful.
  • Stay abreast of the latest developments within the utilities sector, establishing and utilising your own extensive professional network.
  • Leverage deep expertise and technical know-how across and outside the organisation, translating findings into meaningful implications for the organisation to enable decisions to be made on key strategic issues.
  • Act as a credible partner to stakeholders to evaluate the impact of the insights and recommendations; feed into strategic business planning.
  • Challenge established thinking and role-model a curious mindset.
  • Manage and report on the performance of the corporate strategy in delivering its projects with the objective of accelerating progress.
  • Lead a highly motivated, innovative, inclusive, and focused team, developing a talent and performance management culture that drives value through a highly engaged team.
