The Finance Team

The finance division at Mattel is comprised of leaders who are dedicated to excellence. Each finance professional operates within a global finance framework, engaging with senior leadership and taking on significant responsibilities to advance their careers. Our finance department is agile and focused on delivering business outcomes efficiently. We emphasize streamlined processes, prompt decision-making, and heightened accountability.

The Role

Title: Manager, Franchise Finance

Reports to: Director, Franchise Finance

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee and coordinate the external audit processes for multiple licensing entities within the Mattel Inc group. Review and authorize monthly balance sheet reconciliations. Manage various responsibilities related to period-end closing. Represent the Franchise finance team in a major initiative aimed at simplifying the existing entity structure. Lead and mentor a team of one direct report while coordinating audit activities across the broader organization.

Your Contributions Will Include:

Managing and coordinating external audits, which entails conducting planning discussions, executing initial deliverables, and holding regular meetings with external auditors to ensure alignment with timelines and address any concerns. Leading the Franchise finance team's representation in a significant project to streamline the current entity structure, which involves understanding and navigating a complex framework with multiple intercompany dynamics. Reviewing and approving monthly balance sheet reconciliations across various entities and currencies, including royalty creditors, accruals, and intercompany balances. Handling period-end closing tasks, including journal reviews in Oracle, P&L and balance sheet assessments, as well as variance analysis in areas such as revenue and royalty costs. Supporting the career development of your direct report and contributing to the overall objectives of the company. Indirectly managing other members of the Franchise Finance team to ensure adequate representation within the Mattel UK office.

Qualifications:

Essential:

ACA/ACCA qualified with a minimum of 3-4 years of post-qualification experience. Proven experience working with external and internal auditors. Strong attention to detail and capability to manage complex data sets. Proficient in Microsoft Excel.

Desirable:

Experience with complex, multi-entity structures. Familiarity with UK GAAP and prior experience in preparing or reviewing statutory financial statements. Previous experience with Oracle Gold or Oracle Cloud financial systems. Ability to effectively interpret and communicate financial data. Strong relationship management skills with various stakeholders across the organization. Detail-oriented and thorough in approach. A passion for contributing to Mattel's mission and driving growth in our IP-driven toy business and expanding our entertainment offerings.
