Position Overview

Role: Manager, Franchise Finance

Reporting To: Director, Franchise Finance

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and coordinate the external audit processes for various Licensing entities within the Mattel Inc organization.
  • Evaluate and authorize monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Handle various responsibilities related to period-end closing.
  • Lead the Franchise finance team in a significant initiative aimed at streamlining the existing entity structure.
  • Supervise and mentor a team member while managing audit activities across the broader organization.

Your Contributions:

  • Managing and coordinating external audits involves planning discussions, executing initial deliverables, and conducting weekly meetings with external auditors to ensure adherence to the established timeline and address any concerns. This includes coordinating audit requests within the Franchise Finance team across multiple locations and reviewing individual statutory financial statements under UK GAAP, ensuring timely completion and filing of signed financial statements.
  • Lead the Franchise finance team in a significant project aimed at simplifying the current entity structure, which requires understanding and interpreting a complex structure with multiple intercompany intricacies, necessitating coordination and change across various functional teams (e.g., Franchise finance, Tax, Legal, Business).
  • Review and approve monthly balance sheet reconciliations across multiple entities and currencies, including royalty creditors, accruals, and intercompany debtor/creditor balances.
  • Responsibilities for period-end closing will include reviewing and approving journals in Oracle, analyzing P&L and Balance Sheet, as well as conducting variance analysis in areas such as revenue, royalty costs, and aged accounts receivable.
  • Guide direct reports to ensure their professional growth and alignment with the Company's overall objectives.
  • Indirectly oversee other members of the Franchise Finance team, ensuring adequate representation of this group within the Mattel UK office.

Qualifications:

Essential:

  • ACA/ACCA qualified with a minimum of 3-4 years of post-qualification experience.
  • Experience working with external/internal auditors.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage complex data sets.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.

Desirable:

  • Experience with complex, multi-entity structures.
  • Knowledge of UK GAAP and prior experience in completing/reviewing statutory financial statements.
  • Familiarity with Oracle Gold or Oracle Cloud financial systems.
  • Able to effectively interpret and communicate financial information.
  • Strong relationship management skills with various stakeholders across the organization.
  • Detail-oriented and thorough in approach.
  • Passionate about contributing to Mattel's mission and driving growth in our IP-driven toy business and expanding our entertainment offerings.
