About the Role

The University of York is seeking a skilled Laboratory Technician to join our BioArCh facility within the Department of Archaeology. As a key member of our technical team, you will play a vital role in the continuous operation of our laboratory facilities, preparing archaeological samples for scientific analysis, and assisting with training students and facilitating their projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and facilities
  • Prepare and analyze archaeological samples for scientific analysis
  • Assist with training students and facilitating their projects
  • Maintain laboratory inventory, administer sample database and storage, and perform health and safety duties

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will have completed relevant A levels or HNC, and have experience working in a laboratory setting. You will be familiar with applying health and safety procedures, including CoSHH and risk assessments. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as well as a willingness to learn and develop while maintaining a positive and open attitude towards teammates.
