Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust as a Research Project Manager for the ColoCap Trial.

This is a fixed-term position until 30/09/2027, and the post holder will play a key role in managing the study at NHS sites in England. The successful candidate will join a national study team being established across the UK and will be responsible for the day-to-day management of other research projects, studies, and trials at the Trust as required.

About the Role

The Research Project Manager will be responsible for providing proactive research advice and support to Investigators and research teams. This will include developing, setting up, managing, and delivering research projects and activities, as well as providing support for researchers with all aspects of sponsorship and governance applications.

The post holder will also be responsible for actively managing project-specific activities, ensuring milestones and recruitment targets are met, and delivering projects on time and within budget. This will involve coordinating various management, steering group, and project-specific team meetings to ensure appropriate progress against objectives is maintained.

The Research Project Manager will also act as a conduit for the project across other relevant support departments, including sponsor, finance, funder, pharmacy, laboratory, and clinical teams. Additionally, they will maintain research databases such as EDGE/CPMS records and assist with the development of research reports.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide proactive research advice and support to Investigators and research teams.
  • Develop, set up, manage, and deliver research projects and activities.
  • Provide support for researchers with all aspects of sponsorship and governance applications.
  • Actively manage project-specific activities, ensuring milestones and recruitment targets are met.
  • Coordinate various management, steering group, and project-specific team meetings.
  • Maintain research databases such as EDGE/CPMS records.
  • Assist with the development of research reports.
Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have a degree-level qualification or equivalent experience in clinical research, with recognized GCP training. They will also have experience of successfully managing research projects, an understanding of research methodology, and advanced knowledge of the laws, guidelines, and frameworks governing clinical research in the UK.

The successful candidate will also have significant experience of research governance and ethics procedures, experience of using research application systems such as IRAS, and experience of conducting monitoring of research projects and ensuring good study conduct.

They will also have excellent organizational skills, ability to prepare accessible reports and information for a range of stakeholders, and excellent written and oral communication skills, including giving presentations and training courses.

The ideal candidate will be able to work to tight deadlines, manage competing demands, and work independently, as well as collaboratively as a team player and liaise with a variety of other personnel.
