Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled MIU Practitioner to join our team at Dorset HealthCare. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care in our emergency and minor injury settings.

Main Responsibilities

As an MIU Practitioner, you will be expected to:

  • Provide expert care to patients presenting with minor injuries and ailments, using your knowledge and skills to diagnose and treat a range of conditions.
  • Work collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive patient care, including taking a patient's history, conducting physical examinations, and ordering diagnostic tests as necessary.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with patients, families, and carers to ensure excellent patient experience and outcomes.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure high-quality patient care and safety.
  • Participate in audits and quality improvement initiatives to ensure that our services are meeting the highest standards.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • At least 2 years' experience of working in emergency and/or minor injury and/or ailment care.
  • Recent previous experience of working within a customer-focused environment.
  • Previous experience of working with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to undertake physical examinations to diagnose previously undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
  • IT literacy to enter patient-related data into electronic record systems and participate in audits.
  • Registered Nurse/Emergency Care Practitioner/AHP qualification in a specialist field to degree/diploma level.
  • Teaching skills and ability to demonstrate knowledge of safeguarding vulnerable adults and children.

Desirable Criteria

We would welcome applications from candidates with:

  • Supplemented diploma-level specialist training and/or short courses, or equivalent level of experience.

Personal Qualities

We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate:

  • Ability to analyse situations and provide a resolution.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a physical and psychologically demanding role.
  • Experience in auditing and providing evidence-based care within the field.
