Position Overview

As a Community Safety Patrol Officer, your primary responsibility will be to enhance public safety by assisting children and other community members in safely navigating road crossings at designated locations during specified hours.

While formal qualifications are not required, it is advantageous to possess a strong understanding of road safety, familiarity with the Highway Code/Green Cross Code, and experience working with children.

You must be prepared to fulfill your duties at the patrol point daily during school opening and closing hours, regardless of weather conditions, and be available at short notice for any unexpected school closures.

Typical Working Hours:

The hours of operation are generally from 08:15 AM to 09:10 AM and from 2:50 PM to 3:25 PM.

You will receive a competitive salary of £22,525.71 pro rata, along with a variety of benefits, including:

Payment at the Scottish Local Government Living Wage of £12.00 per hour, with additional compensation for shift work, including weekends. Annualized pay structure (equal installments every four-week pay period). Generous holiday entitlement. Access to training opportunities and support for job-related qualifications. Discounts available at local and national retailers, including supermarkets and restaurants. Provision of all necessary uniforms.

Candidate Requirements:

Comprehensive training in safe crossing protocols will be provided.

You will need to complete an annual Occupational Health Surveillance Questionnaire and participate in any required Occupational Health Assessments.

Prior to finalizing your appointment, you must obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme Membership for working with children through the appropriate channels.

Induction training will be mandatory before commencing your role.
