Key Responsibilities:

As a Sous Chef at our Country House, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional dining experiences for our guests, who enjoy guided or self-guided walking tours. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting the Head Chef in preparing and serving a Traditional British menu, which includes breakfast, packed lunches, and a three-course evening meal served in a banquet style.
  • Managing kitchen operations in the absence of the Head Chef, ensuring compliance with Health & Safety regulations.
  • Overseeing and mentoring kitchen staff, including chefs, kitchen assistants, and porters.
  • Conducting stock takes and managing orders from external suppliers.

About You:

We are looking for candidates with the following essential qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a supervisory role within a busy kitchen environment.
  • Knowledge of HACCP, The Food Safety Act, Allergen Legislation, and relevant Health & Safety regulations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and flexibility to work evenings and weekends.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience in working with fresh ingredients and preparing traditional British cuisine.
