Role Overview:

As a Sous Chef at our Coniston Country House, you will play a vital role in providing a welcoming retreat for guests participating in guided or self-guided walking tours. You will assist the Head Chef in preparing and serving a Traditional British menu, which includes breakfast, packed lunches, and a three-course evening meal served in a banquet style.

Your responsibilities will include managing kitchen operations in the absence of the Head Chef, ensuring compliance with Health & Safety regulations, and overseeing the development and supervision of kitchen staff, including chefs, kitchen assistants, and porters. You will also be involved in stock management and ordering from external suppliers.


Candidate Profile:

We are looking for candidates with the following essential skills:

  • Supervisory experience in a busy professional kitchen
  • Knowledge of HACCP, The Food Safety Act 1990, Allergen Legislation, Food and Hygiene Regulations, and Fire Regulations
  • Ability to work as part of a team and flexibility to work evenings and weekends

Desirable Skills:
  • Experience with fresh ingredients and traditional British cuisine
