Key Responsibilities:

As a Sous Chef at our Coniston Country House, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional dining experiences for our guests, who come for guided or self-guided walking tours. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting the Head Chef in the preparation and presentation of a traditional British menu, including breakfast, packed lunches, and a three-course evening meal served in a banquet style.
  • Overseeing kitchen operations in the absence of the Head Chef, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Managing and mentoring kitchen staff, including chefs, kitchen assistants, and porters.
  • Conducting inventory checks and coordinating orders with external suppliers.

Candidate Profile:

We are looking for candidates who possess the following essential qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a supervisory role within a busy kitchen environment.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety regulations, including HACCP and allergen legislation.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and flexibility to work evenings and weekends.

Desirable Skills:
  • Experience in utilizing fresh ingredients and preparing traditional British cuisine.
