About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Retail Media Director to join our Head Office team. As a key member of our Commercial Retail Media profession, you will work closely with Commercial and Customer Marketing experts to understand commercial agreements and client funds.

Your primary responsibility will be to develop insight and data-led planning strategies for larger brands to maximize spend against available inventory, delivering maximum return for both John Lewis and the brands. You will also support your team to maximize their client relationships and deliver on individual revenue targets.

You will work closely with Trading Teams, Customer teams, Marketing teams, and the Partnership Retail Media Strategy & Proposition team to ensure alignment and delivery of the best outcomes for the business, brands, and customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and create insight and data-led proposals to brands for campaigns and tactical spend, identifying opportunities to increase revenue.
  • Develop a strategy within your category vertical to approach different brands and allocate the right SLAs.
  • Balance spend ambition with internal Customer Plan and negotiate with brands to deliver the best outcome for the business, brands, and customers.
  • Maximize brand retail media investment in John Lewis by building great relationships and developing credibility.
  • Provide robust ROI feedback on campaign performance to support future investment decisions.
  • Lead and coach your team to deliver planning and sales strategies aligned to clear business goals.

Requirements:

  • Experience working directly with brands and agencies to build and sell Retail Media activation plans.
  • Consultative media planning and sales experience with a proven track record of meeting and exceeding revenue targets.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills to influence vertically and horizontally.
  • Understanding of marketing assets, their value, and negotiation skills.
  • Strong data and insight planning experience with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Experience managing direct reports and/or task management.
