ERT is Seeking a Dedicated Operations Support Specialist
We are currently looking for a highly skilled and dedicated individual to play a key role in supporting Search and Rescue operations for the United States Mission Control Center (USMCC) Search and Rescue Satellite-Aided Tracking (SARSAT) system.
This unique role involves dual responsibilities as a Help Desk Specialist/Duty Controller, contributing significantly to the success of the critical SARSAT team.
- Monitor the USMCC SARSAT system to respond promptly to requests from Rescue Coordination Centers (RCCs), SAR Point of Contacts (SPOCs), and other Mission Control Centers
- Analyze system alarms and take necessary corrective actions for optimal performance
- Process satellite orbital data to ensure accurate positioning for search and rescue operations
- Communicate effectively with RCCs to record beacon activation outcomes and maintain essential records
- Collaborate with SARSAT partners to ensure data quality and conduct regular communication link tests
- Handle administrative tasks including answering calls, maintaining controller logs, and supporting beacon registration
- Manage incoming calls and provide customer support through calls and emails
- Track and process data accurately and efficiently
- Enter various types of data into the system, review error reports, and maintain documentation
- Collaborate with the team, perform quality control, and assist in updating operational procedures
- Work closely with government leads and manufacturers to address quality control issues
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Minimum of 4 years' experience in customer service, IT help desk, or similar roles
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with international stakeholders
- Proficiency in software tools such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Detail-oriented, dependable, and able to work rotating shifts as per the schedule
- Understanding of mathematics, latitude, longitude, and time zones
Applicants must be US Citizens or Permanent Residents and pass a background investigation for security clearance.
Education: HS Diploma required; Associates or BS degree preferred (or equivalent experience)
