Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Jewellery Education Specialist to join our team at the British Academy of Jewellery. As a Jewellery Training Tutor, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching and learning experiences to our students, ensuring they achieve the highest possible standards in work and conduct.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver teaching programs in jewellery manufacturing and design, ensuring high success rates and providing academic and pastoral support to students.
  • Monitor progress and attendance, and maintain accurate records.
  • Undertake planned delivery and provide feedback and guidance to students, ensuring high success rates.
  • Complete assessments of learner work to set IQA deadlines.
  • Produce lesson plans, support materials, and other teaching-related materials as required.
  • Undertake general course management responsibilities, including admissions and placement support through student interviews.
  • Ensure lessons, delivery, and assessments meet with the standards set by awarding bodies, prime contractors, and other organizations that monitor the Academy.
  • Ensure learners follow the policies provided to them via the Academy's VLE Canvas.
Requirements
  • Level 2 qualifications in both Literacy and Numeracy (or equivalent).
  • Relevant qualifications in Jewellery Manufacture.
  • Relevant teaching and assessing, IV qualifications (or willingness to work towards) and commitment to complete further CPD or teacher training qualifications if required.
  • Awareness of the regulatory framework for FE academic awards and quality standards.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Relevant teaching experience, particularly in the areas of jewellery manufacturing at the bench, 2D jewellery design techniques, and experience using Adobe Illustrator and Rhino in a jewellery design context.
  • Proven experience of teamwork.
  • Desirable: be a practicing jeweller with strong links to art or fine jewellery industry and demonstrable evidence of contemporary practice.

  • Proactive and able to effectively support a high-performing team of tutors.
  • Suggests practical solutions to new or unique problems.
  • Communicate effectively orally and in writing, adapting the message for a diverse audience in an inclusive and accessible way.

  • Able to manage safeguarding issues as appropriate to the role.
