Job Description

Role Overview

The British Academy of Jewellery is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Jewellery Education Specialist to join our team. As a Jewellery Diploma Instructor, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching and learning experiences to our students, ensuring they achieve the highest possible standards in jewellery manufacturing and design.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver engaging and effective teaching programs in jewellery manufacturing and design, ensuring high success rates among students.
  • Monitor student progress and attendance, maintaining accurate records and providing academic and pastoral support as needed.
  • Assess learner work, setting deadlines for Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) and ensuring lessons, delivery, and assessments meet awarding body standards.
  • Produce lesson plans, support materials, and other teaching-related resources as required.
  • Undertake general course management responsibilities, including admissions and placement support through student interviews.
  • Ensure learners follow Academy policies and procedures, as outlined in the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) Canvas.

Requirements

  • Level 2 qualifications in Literacy and Numeracy (or equivalent).
  • Relevant qualifications in Jewellery Manufacture.
  • Relevant teaching and assessing qualifications (or willingness to work towards) and commitment to complete further CPD or teacher training qualifications if required.
  • Awareness of the regulatory framework for FE academic awards and quality standards.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

  • Relevant teaching experience in jewellery manufacturing, 2D jewellery design techniques, and experience using Adobe Illustrator and Rhino in a jewellery design context.
  • Proven experience of teamwork and collaboration.
  • Desirable: be a practicing jeweller with strong links to the art or fine jewellery industry and demonstrable evidence of contemporary practice.

  • Strong supervision and team working skills.
  • Proactive and able to effectively support a high-performing team of tutors.
  • Suggests practical solutions to new or unique problems.
  • Communicate effectively orally and in writing, adapting the message for a diverse audience in an inclusive and accessible way.

  • Able to manage safeguarding issues as appropriate to the role.
