About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Design Engineer to join our Vehicle Electrification Team at Forseven. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and integrating high voltage powertrain systems into high volume automotive production programmes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Development: Design and develop electric powertrain systems for battery electric vehicles, including thermal management systems, EDU, transmission and driveline integration along with associated components.
  • Deliverables: Deliver design concepts and agreed content to meet the needs of the Vehicle Line Manager for Vehicle Programme Requirements.
  • Component Integration: Package and integrate sourced in components.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to optimise powertrain performance, efficiency, and thermal management.
  • Validation: Work with the validation team to specify system-level testing, validation, and debugging to ensure powertrain performance meets design specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Design Reviews: Participate in design reviews, technical discussions, and brainstorming sessions to drive innovation and continuous improvement in powertrain design.
  • Industry Trends: Stay abreast of the latest developments in electric vehicle technology, industry trends, and best practices to inform design decisions and maintain a competitive edge.
  • Supplier Collaboration: Work closely with suppliers and manufacturing partners to ensure the successful production launch of powertrain components and systems.
  • Technical Documentation: Create and/or contribute to the development of technical documentation, specifications, and standards related to powertrain design and integration.
  • Vehicle Testing: Support ongoing vehicle testing, validation, and calibration activities, including field testing and prototype evaluations.
  • DFMEA: Create and/or contribute to DFMEAs.
  • Fault Management: Manage concerns using our fault management system.
About You

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Design Engineer with a strong background in electric powertrains and automotive engineering. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience: Experience of Electric Powertrains (Battery to Driveshaft) or similar discipline within an automotive engineering environment.
  • Education: Minimum Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
  • CAD Software: Proficient in CAD Software packages, Catia V5/V6 preferred.
  • Simulation Tools: Exposure and familiarity with simulation tools such as FEA, 1D, etc.
  • Electric Powertrain Architectures: Understanding of electric powertrain architectures and underlying principles and technologies including thermal management, HV harnessing, electrical safety systems, serviceability and control strategies.
  • System Delivery: Experience of system/component delivery within an APQP, six sigma or similar framework (FMEA, DVP, quality planning, PPAP etc) and full product lifecycle activities.
  • V-Cycle: An understanding of the V-Cycle and its application in an automotive environment.
  • Problem-Solving: Excellent problem-solving skills and a hands-on approach to engineering challenges.
  • Communication: Effective communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Collaboration: Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with cross-functional teams.
  • Passion: Passion for electric vehicles, sustainable transportation, and pushing the boundaries of automotive engineering.
