Electric Powertrain Integration Engineer
Optamor, an innovative leader in the electric vehicle sector, is on a mission to redefine the industry through advanced technology and exceptional engineering practices. We are in search of an Electric Powertrain Integration Engineer to become a vital part of our talented Vehicle Electrification Division. This position will report directly to the Engineering Manager overseeing Powertrain System Validation.
This role will be based in a hybrid work environment, allowing the successful candidate to collaborate with some of the brightest minds in automotive engineering.
As a key player in our team, you will focus on the electrification process, ensuring the electric powertrain and its associated systems are meticulously developed at every stage. As our vehicles transition towards production, it is crucial to validate system integration at the component level prior to launch, while also providing development support for the high-voltage systems within these vehicles.
Your responsibilities will initially include supporting the integration of powertrain components. You will work closely with suppliers to ensure that solutions align with our specifications and avoid any delays that could jeopardize the vehicle program. As the vehicle progresses through prototype and pre-production phases, your on-site launch support will be essential in leveraging insights gained during integration to enhance the success of the vehicle launch.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate integration support for electric powertrain vehicle development across both internal and external teams.
- Assist in validation activities and test initiatives throughout Optamor engineering, both in the UK and internationally, including hands-on vehicle validation when necessary.
- Take ownership of complex issues, driving resolution for both software and hardware challenges. Collaborate with internal stakeholders and suppliers, employing formal problem-solving methodologies to ensure effective issue resolution.
- Support prototype and production builds for Optamor vehicles in various locations.
- Define and support vehicle instrumentation for the Electric Powertrain and broader team.
Candidate Profile:
- Proven experience in the integration and troubleshooting of high-voltage and powertrain components during the build, development, and production phases of automotive projects, including both software and hardware aspects.
- Demonstrable hands-on experience with automotive components, systems, and vehicles, particularly high-voltage systems.
- Experience in vehicle testing, analysis, and diagnostics utilizing measurement and calibration tools such as Vector CANalyzer and ETAS INCA.
- Strong understanding of high-voltage architectures, including thermal management, safety protocols, and control strategies.
- A degree in Electronics, Control Systems, Automotive Engineering, or a related field is required. Significant relevant experience will also be considered. High Voltage training to Senior Authorised Person or IMI Level 4 is preferred.
