**Job Title:** Design Engineer - Electric Powertrain

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Design Engineer - Electric Powertrain to join our Vehicle Electrification Team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and integrating high voltage powertrain systems into high volume automotive production programmes.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Design and Development: Design and develop electric powertrain systems, including thermal management systems, EDU, transmission, and driveline integration along with associated components.
  2. Design Delivery: Deliver design concepts and agreed content to meet the needs of the Vehicle Line Manager for Vehicle Programme Requirements.
  3. Component Integration: Package and integrate sourced components.
  4. Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to optimise powertrain performance, efficiency, and thermal management.
  5. Validation and Testing: Work with the validation team to specify system-level testing, validation, and debugging to ensure powertrain performance meets design specifications and regulatory requirements.
  6. Design Reviews and Innovation: Participate in design reviews, technical discussions, and brainstorming sessions to drive innovation and continuous improvement in powertrain design.
  7. Industry Knowledge: Stay abreast of the latest developments in electric vehicle technology, industry trends, and best practices to inform design decisions and maintain a competitive edge.
  8. Supplier and Manufacturing Partnerships: Work closely with suppliers and manufacturing partners to ensure the successful production launch of powertrain components and systems.
  9. Technical Documentation: Create and/or contribute to the development of technical documentation, specifications, and standards related to powertrain design and integration.
  10. Vehicle Testing and Validation: Support ongoing vehicle testing, validation, and calibration activities, including field testing and prototype evaluations.
  11. DFMEA and Fault Management: Create and/or contribute to DFMEAs and manage concerns using our fault management system.
Requirements:
  1. Experience: Experience of Electric Powertrains (Battery to Driveshaft) or similar discipline within an automotive engineering environment.
  2. Education: Minimum Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
  3. CAD Software: Proficient in CAD Software packages, Catia V5/V6 preferred.
  4. Simulation Tools: Exposure and familiarity with simulation tools such as FEA, 1D, etc.
  5. Electric Powertrain Knowledge: Understanding of electric powertrain architectures and underlying principles and technologies including thermal management, HV harnessing, electrical safety systems, serviceability, and control strategies.
  6. System Delivery: Experience of system/component delivery within an APQP, six sigma or similar framework (FMEA, DVP, quality planning, PPAP etc) and full product lifecycle activities.
  7. V-Cycle Understanding: An understanding of the V-Cycle and its application in an automotive environment.
  8. Problem-Solving and Communication Skills: Excellent problem-solving skills and a hands-on approach to engineering challenges. Effective communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  9. Collaboration and Adaptability: Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with cross-functional teams.
  10. Passion for Electric Vehicles: Passion for electric vehicles, sustainable transportation, and pushing the boundaries of automotive engineering.
